It is rightly said that dedication and hard work can make everything possible. An apt example of this is Geeta Verma. A health worker from Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh, Verma has featured in the World Health Organization (WHO) calendar for the year 2018.

It is rightly said that dedication and hard work can make everything possible. An apt example of this is Geeta Verma. A health worker from Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh, Verma has featured in the World Health Organization (WHO) calendar for the year 2018.

Hailing from Sapnot village of Karsog Tehsil, Verma found mention in the WHO calender for her efforts to ensure hundred per cent coverage of her area of operation under the measles and rubella programme.

The Chief Minister of the state, Jai Ram Thakur also congratulated Verma for her achievements and said it was a matter of pride for the state that a woman health worker found mention in the WHO calendar. Thakur exhorted all employees to exhibit similar commitment and zeal to serve the people with dedication.

  • Deployed at Health Sub Centre, Shakardehra, in Block Jhanjehli of Mandi district, Verma undertook a massive campaign to vaccinate children even in the remote villages
  • She went to great lengths to immunise the children of shepherds and the Gujjars community in the remote areas of Raygarh
  • According to a Times of India report, she walked and rode her motorcycle to remote corners to immunize children belonging to nomadic communities, sometimes trekking through treacherous terrain in September last year
