World No.1 Tai Tzu-Ying ousted Saina Nehwal in straight games to win the opener of the All England Championships. The World No.11 shuttler Nehwal, had a tough time countering the Taiwan ace as she lost 11-21, 18-21. The Indian shuttler will be on her way back home after her opponent didn’t break a sweat during the match.
Nehwal was close in the second game of the fixture as she was leading at one time by 18-16, however, the Taiwanese shuttler was too quick to react and finished the job in two games, sending the former world no.1 back home on the opening day.
Nehwal fellow countrywoman World No.3 PV Sindhu will take on Chochuwong Pornpawee of Thailand later in the day.
In the Men’s singles, World No.3 Kidambi Srikanth will take on France’s Brice Leverdez whereas HS Prannoy will face Taiwan’s Tien Chen Chou later on tonight.
