Developments in interventional procedures had significantly improved treatment provided to patients with neurological disorders, speakers said at a national-level continuing medical education (CME) programme on ‘Interventional Radiology and Neurology’ organised by Apollo Speciality Hospitals here on Saturday.
John Robert, Consultant Interventional Radiologist, Apollo Speciality Hospitals, said that while conventional treatment included medication and surgery, the advent of interventional radiology had removed the need for surgeries and consequently decreased morbidity.
Rohini Sridhar, Chief Operating Officer, Apollo Hospitals, Madurai Division, said that Apollo- Madurai had joined the handful of centres in the country with the technical expertise and infrastructure in interventional radiology procedures.
D. Maruthupandian, Dean, Government Rajaji Hospital, was the chief guest. More than 200 doctors participated in the programme.
