The Delhi Commission for Women, along with Delhi police, rescued the 14-year-old from a house in Northeast Delhi’s Model Town after receiving a call on their helpline number saying she was illegally confined there.
The police also arrested the doctor, who allegedly tortured the 14-year-old.
The 14-year-old hails from Ranchi in Jharkhand and was brought to the lady doctor by members of a placement agency.
The DCW said the girl was beaten up viciously everyday by her employer and had marks and bruises across her body. She was also burnt with hot iron, the DCW said, and the doctor allegedly poured hot water on her. Swati Maliwal, the chairperson of DCW, said the doctor attacked the girl with scissors, spat at her and repeatedly strangulated her.
Swati Maliwal, who met with the girl, also said that she was kept in the house without food and was “reduced to bones”.
“Most evil!” Ms Maliwal wrote on Twitter about the incident, and in another post said the accused should be given maximum punishment.
The Delhi Police has raided the office of the placement agency that brought the girl to Delhi.
